Color

In The Giver, people cannot see color. When Jonas finally begins to see color he doesn't even know how to describe it, because he doesn't have the vocabulary.

Choose a color and describe it to someone who is blind, use other senses and objects to help you describe it.

If i had to choice a color to describe to a blind person i would chose red. Red is the color of life, flowers and love. Red is the color you would feel after a first kiss or after you have your first beautiful child. Red is the bright sky at dusk. Red is not just a dull color, it is the heart and soul of the body. Without red there would be no christmas, valentines days or just a bright new day full of flowers and birds chirping. Red is the forever love you have for you family even through hard times. Red is everywhere.

If i were to choose a color to explain to a blind person i would choose gray. i would choose gray because there are shades of gray in every color. and if there was not gray we wouldnt have colors. i would tell the person that this color is how you feel when your confused and lost. i would also say that this color really had no distinct look to it its sades of white and black. this color does not have a meaning like the colors red or anything.

Blue, it’s the sky clear in the afternoon when it’s a hot day drink lemonade, it’s the water roaring fast, it’s a crisp clear clean color, it’s the color when someone is down, it’s a color of deep thoughts, it’s a color in depth and different tints in your eyes, it’s a color to symbolize of deep thoughts and happiness, blue is a color of sudsy bubbles in a bathtub.

(red) it is like the sun is beating strait down on your back. its hot like fire, and fast as lightning. its tast is spicy, the way a pepper burns your toung. just like in the book when jonas was trying to help asher see the flowers, he doesnt quite know how to describe it to him because there are not words strong enough to give him a visual. when we describe anything to someone you aoutomaticly tell them to color. we use color as a word of description, so how do you discribe a descriptive word?

That would be really hard to describe a color without saying its just the color blue. I guess i would say its a cool feeling; deep, frost but still smooth. Kinda cold with a warm cool breeze. It keeps you relaxed and content. In a calm state of mind!!

The color that i am choosing to explain to a blind person is the color blue. Blue is beautiful. Blue fills the sky on a clear day. Blue fills the deep roaring ocean. Its calming and breathtaking. A color that makes you just stop and relax. Blue is the color of a a brand new baby boys room. Blue is a color, but serves as more than just a pretty color on the wall. -jenn

The color blue is refreshing, in a since that that nice cold blur water refreshes you on a hot day by ether rehydrating you or cooling you off. The color blue is very wet just like water would be. Blue can also be thought of as sweet just like blueberries as you bite into them. Blue is a wonderful color by how it feels and some of the tastes that go along with it.

Color-Green.
The color green is warmth, and the feeling of the sun wrapping your skin up. Pine trees are green, and have a wonderful forest scent. Green is full of life, and lives in the outdoors. Green is the color of hiking.

If I had to choose a color to try and explain it to a blind person i would probably choose the color black. I would tell the blind person that black is the color of when you feel completely lost in the world, like you have nobody to go to. This is the color of depression, like you're falling deeper down this hole and it keeps getting darker and darker. Black is all of the horrible feelings and events that follow you in life. Black is death. It is the color of when you don't know where or who to turn to when life gets rough. I would explain that black is a color of sadness and emptiness in a person's heart.

If i had to choose a color to describe I would choose orange. its the color of the sun and warmth. The color of the suns rays beating down on us. Its the color of a fire warming your body. I would use an orange to help to describe the color orange. The sweet fruity and sometimes sour taste.- Austin rhoten period 3

(Blue) It’s a cold and deep color. It’s refreshing. It reminds me of nature because the sky and mountains are blue. It’s the smell of freshness everywhere you go. The oceans and lakes and rivers are blue. To me it’s a color that goes with everything. It’s personally my favorite color as well as others. The color blue is everywhere. Blue is a beautiful color just like the rainbow which is happens to be in. Blue is just a cool color.

I would explain to them the color green. It's the color of excitement and joy. It's feeling the cool grass beneath your feet on a nice sunny day. It's the birds chirping high up in the trees. It's the decadant taste of apples.

Blue. Blue is not only a color, but rather a feeling too. It's the color of the ocean, sea salt tickling your tostril. It's the mimic of the sky, one of the palest blues sometimes, playing tag with the colorless cotton balls mingling with it. Though it is the color of such happy things as sky and the ocean, it is the color of sadness and depression. I dont' like to think of it like that, rather i would like to remember the blue sphire on my ring, or the piercing eyes of my little sister, or simply of the touch of a cool, rippling wave.

If i were to describe a color to a blind person it would be blue. Blue is like ice, cold and mean. When I think of ice blue i think of jagged icecles hanging from a haunted house. The sky is also blue the. But the sky is a happy blue. When i picture sky blue i picture angles sitting on a fluffy cloud in the light blue sky, peaceful. Blue is like a feeling to when your sad you feel blue. Its kind of a depressing color, yet very beautiful.

Blue, in the Giver would be a word ignored by most, and unknown by all. Blue is waking up in the morning to a sky that never ends. It's sitting on a beach with your feet in the water, smelling the saltiness of the ocean while waves gently hit the shore. Blue is a lake so calm that even the birds seem to be statues. Blue is the innocense of a baby bird taking its first flight from the nest. Blue is the color of life, and the color not so far away from heaven.

If I were to choose a color to show a blind person it would be blue. Blue is the color of the deep clear ocean. Also of water which is refreshing to splash on your face on a hot day. It’s the color of the sky on a nice clear day. Blue is soothing. A color that helps you relax and enjoy life.

Blue: the color of happiness and sadness. It is the color that brightens everyone’s day when they see it in the sky. Blue is the color of crystal clear water and the ocean. It is vibrant and energetic, but also calm and relaxed. It is lying on your back on a clear sunny day enjoying life. It is the smell of clean crisp air on a clear snowy day. Blue can also be sorrow and longing. It can be hopelessness, but it can also be lively and hope.

The color that I would chose is blue. It’s the feeling of cool water on your feet and cold water sliding down your throat. It’s the feeling of being outside on a freezing cold day and the cold air hitting your lungs. It’s the sadness you feel sometimes when something just isn’t right. It’s the crisp air in the morning when there is no clouds, rain, or snow. Blue sooths the soul and fills you up with greatness from everything it represents

If I had to choose a coloe to describe to a blind person I would choose black. Although it's not the prettiest of colors, there is no real way to describe a COLOR is the person had never experienced the sight of any color at all. I could try to describe blue with clear rivers that run through forests, or orange as the color of juicy fruit we eat every day. Maybe even green as the color of the luscious grass we run through in the summer while the sprinklers are turned on or as the color of trees in the forests, but nothing will quite suit the satisfcation if they cannot experience the sight themselves. So simply black as the color you see when you close your eyes would be the easiest to choose in my opinion, but all the other colors would be the most pleasing to hear, I'm sure.

I think that if i had to describe one color to a blind person, i would try to describe the color blue. Because i know a blind person can experience warmth in the summer, so it would be easy to say that there isn't a cloud in the sky, and the sky is dark blue. Or tropic waters down towards the Equator, are baby blue, because a blind person can at least grasp the sensation of water.
